Terms & Conditions


It is not necessary for any Client to have signed an acceptance of these terms and conditions for them to apply. If a Client accepts a quote then the Client will be deemed to have satisfied themselves as to the terms applying and have accepted these terms and conditions in full.

Please read these terms and conditions carefully. Any purchase or use of our services implies that you have read and accepted our terms and conditions. The word ‘cake’ is in reference to any sweet treat order made by Quarter2Cake.


1. Booking, Deposit & Final Payment

1.1  The date of the event is considered ‘booked’ upon receipt of a £10.00 non-refundable deposit.

1.2 Without a deposit a booking will not be secured. Priority will always be given to the paying customer.

1.3 The final payment is due 1 week prior to the event date via bank transfer.

1.4 Customers will not be permitted to take their cake away until complete payment has been made.

2. Collection & Delivery

2.1 Delivery is free within a 3-mile radius; £1 per mile for distances over 3 miles.

2.2 It is the customer’s responsibility to check the cake on collection/delivery to confirm you are happy with the finished cake and condition.

2.3 Once the cake has been collected/delivered the customer is responsible for any damages to the order and a refund will not be available.


2.4 Transport your cake on a flat surface keeping the box flat, with the heating turned off.

2.5 The ideal place is in the footwell or boot of the car either on a carpet or a non-slip mat.

2.6 It is strongly recommended that cakes being collected by the customer be transported in an air-conditioned vehicle.

2.7 Please drive slowly, taking extra care especially around corners and over bumps.

Delivery & set up

2.8 It is the customer’s responsibility to provide a stable and level surface at least four feet off the ground where the cake is to be set up.

2.9 Cakes are safest when they are displayed against a wall.

2.10 Once the cake has been delivered and set up, the care and condition of the cake then becomes the customers responsibility.

2.11 Quater2cake is not liable for any damage that may occur thereafter, including someone bumping the table, a stand or table breaking or collapsing, child damage, or any other possible causes.

Outdoor locations

2.12 Humidity and heat can adversely affect your cake. In the warmer months, it is recommended the cake be kept in an air conditioned or, at the very least, a cool area.

2.13 Please note refrigeration is not recommended for fondant covered cakes.

2.14 You acknowledge that Quarter2cake is in no way responsible for any damage that may occur due to weather conditions or outdoor locations including heat, humidity or insects.

2.15 Cakes should never to displayed in direct sunlight or anywhere sunlight might eventually move to.

2.16 Determine someplace safe where the cake can be displayed indoors on exceedingly hot days or in case of rain.


3. Refunds and Cancellations

3.1 Any cancellations must be made by the person who ordered the cake.

3.2 Should the customer cancel their booking, any sums paid are non-refundable due to time already spent in consultation, planning, shopping for supplies and loss of additional business due to preventing further bookings for that date.

3.3 It may be possible to transfer your booking to an alternative date at Quarter2cake’s discretion and always subject to availability.

3.4 Quarter2cake is not responsible for any delay or inability to deliver the cake based on accidents, natural disasters, transportation issues or extreme inclement weather. However, every possible measure will be taken to fulfil the order and to keep the customer informed of any unforeseen circumstances. I ask for your patience with factors that may be out of my control.

3.5 Quarter2cake retains the right to cancel the booking in very unusual circumstances beyond my control, such as fire or ill health and I will in this instance refund any money taken in full and recommend an alternative cake maker if possible.

3.6 The customer must inform Quarter2cake of any changes to the date of event or changes required to the cake prior to one week of collection/delivery.

3.7 If the venue is changed with a further distance for delivery, then additional charges may apply. As stated above (mileage).


4. Design and Alteration

4.1 It is the customers responsibility to read the quote thoroughly.  Any alterations must be made in writing via email.

4.2 Quarter2cake is able to accept alteration requests up to two weeks prior to the event date.

4.3 If requested, I will endeavour to adjust the design where possible; however sometimes this is not possible due to the nature of the request or the amount of notice given.

4.4 If alterations effect the cost, or preparation work from the original design already undertaken, then your balance will be adjusted accordingly.

4.5 Quarter2cake is unable to copy an image of another cake makers work, however, I can take inspiration from any images that you wish to send in order to come up with your own bespoke cake.

4.6 Anything that is a Trademark character or Brand will be subject to copyright, therefore can’t be reproduced. However, if you would like to discuss your requirements, I can buy printed toppers from a registered cake supplier to keep within the legal requirements, and again take inspiration from images you send.


5. Allergies and Special Dietary Requirements

5.1 Quarter2cake cannot guarantee cakes are free from nuts. Cakes are prepared in a kitchen that uses dairy, gluten and nuts.

5.2 It is the customers responsibility to point out any identified allergy hazards to their guests.


6. Non-Edible Items

6.1 Most cakes contain small proportions of inedible items, e.g.: support dowels, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers, flower picks, cocktail sticks in fondant models. It is the customers responsibility to ensure that these are removed by yourself or venue organisers before consumption of the cake.

6.2 Some flowers are poisonous and not suitable for use on food products, you should notify your florist if you intend to use flowers on food to ensure that non-poisonous flowers are provided.

6.3 Quarter2cake will not be responsible for any flowers that are provided by other individuals/companies.


Best Before Date

7.1 Your cake is baked to ensure it is fresh for the date of the event. I cannot guarantee its quality if it is consumed more than 4 days after collection/delivery.

7.2 Cakes are made entirely of natural ingredients so they do not have the extended shelf life of cakes that contain additives and preservatives.


8. Hire of Cake Stands/Accessories

8.1 If the customer would like to hire a cake stand or decorations that Quarter2cake may have available then it is your responsibility to pay the deposit and return the stand/decoration after the event, and that it will not be left at a venue.

8.2 The hire charge is dependent on individual items. Please ensure any hired item is returned as soon as is possible.


9. Complaints

9.1 If you have any concerns about your cake, please notify Quarter2cake as soon as possible after delivery, or on collection so that I have every opportunity to rectify it in time for your event.

9.2 Any other concerns should be made in writing with evidence of the fault included by the person making the order.

9.3 A refund will only be considered if cakes are returned uneaten and are unsuitable for consumption/not as detailed in the original quote.

9.4 No refunds will be given due to change of mind.

9.5 Fulfilling your cake order and requirements is very important to me. Please carefully look over the event and cake details in the contract to make sure everything is correct. If you find any mistakes, please let me know immediately.


10. Privacy and Data Protection

10.1 Your data and privacy are important to Quarter2cake.

10.2 As a sole trader home business your personal details will never be shared with anyone else.

10.3 If agreeable Quarter2cake will keep contact details and order details on a personal encrypted drive for future reference only.

10.4 The customer agrees that any photos taken of the cake can be used by Quarter2cake’s social media/business pages, however personal details of the customer will not be added, unless it is the customers choosing to ‘tag’ themselves and also share photos of the cake.

10.5 Pictures may be included in marketing, in the form of printed materials, on business website and social media.

10.6 Should the customer not consent; written notice must be given at time of ordering.
